Free Buses Take Nearly 60,000 Cambodians Home for the Holidays

PHNOM PENH: Nearly 60,000 people took advantage of the free buses provided by the government to return home for the Pchum Ben holiday weekend. Many of the passengers were factory workers who departed from Phnom Penh on October 12 and returned from the provinces on October 16.

Phnom Penh Municipal Administration spokesperson Met Meas Pheakdey announced that the government provided 455 free buses to the public to return to their hometowns for the holiday, which made over 1,500 trips. According to the spokesperson, the busiest routes were to Siem Reap, Battambang and Banteay Meanchey.

The government provides buses for Pchum Ben and Khmer New Year to transport citizens safely and ease their financial burden around the holidays.
